About Us
Mounts Family Farm, established in 2008, is a small non-GMO farm in Dayton, TN. We raise grass-fed and finished cows, pasture-raised chicken, turkey, quail, and duck. Farming beyond organic, we believe in the natural way. We use only natural treatments, such as neem and essential oils in our gardens and animal husbandry.
We started raising our own meat and produce in 2008. We started with 6 bred cows and grew our herd. By 2010, we sold our first grass fed grass finished beef, and since we only sell what is born on our farm, we were selling out a year in advance.
In 2017, we started selling beef and eggs at a farmers market, and in 2018, we added pastured meat chickens, turkeys, and ducks to our farm.
In June of 2020, tragedy struck. We had most of our cattle stolen. We were left to start over with the cattle that remained. We take great pride in raising our cattle here on our farm from birth to market. However, it takes time to re-grow our herd with the quality standards and natural philosophy's we live and farm by. We are expected to start beef back to market Spring 2023.
Our animals are on grass at all times. The chickens are free to roam 24/7 and are supplemented with non-GMO, no corn and no soy feed.
Our beef cattle are on grass at all times from birth to slaughter and are all born on our farm.
In 2020, we added a group of registered heritage-breed Berkshire pigs to our farm, where they will live happily and raise their piglets in the woods and occasionally on pasture.
